In 1967, Harvard social psychologist Stanley Milgram set out to test an experiment: How many social connections it would take to link any two random people in the United States?

Here’s how he did it:

  • He asked participants in Nebraska and Kansas to send a letter to a target person in Massachusetts.

  • They could only send the letter to someone they knew on a first-name basis, who they thought was more likely to know the target.

  • The letters were passed from person to person, and Milgram tracked how many steps it took to reach the target.

His finding?

On average, it took about six intermediaries—hence the now-famous idea of “six degrees of separation.” You may recall the popular game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon—It is actually a pop culture spin-off of the six degrees of separation concept, and it’s rooted in the same idea: we’re all more closely connected than we think. In the 1990s, Duncan Watts and Steven Strogatz expanded this research through network theory, showing that even in large, complex systems, most nodes (people, web pages, etc.) are connected by surprisingly short paths. Social media (especially Facebook) later confirmed that the average degree of separation globally is even lower—around 3.5 to 4.5 connections.

The lesson? Change doesn’t require fame or massive power—it just takes connected, motivated people willing to act together.

Some Backstory:

Back in 2011, this project started out as a Facebook page that sought to call out the false narratives surrounding family court custody decisions and parents with sole custody.  Later, I added a blog for the occasional deeper analysis, and all that.

After awhile I became pretty burned out, so I took some time off to mull over whether I wanted to continue advocating for family law reform and helping targeted parents.  Admittedly, I was close to doing just that. The only problem is tolerating injustice is just not in my DNA, and I knew that if I gave up, I would feel unfulfilled with the decision and no amount of time would change that.  But still, I had to figure out a way to pursue this project’s goals without fizzling out again and much of what I have put into this site covers these first two problems. The public facing information on this website (and there is a lot of it) is intended to expose false narratives and point the reader toward the truth so they can be more honestly informed. Another component, the Legacy Member Handbook is intended to be resource to help you re-calibrate your life, transform adversity into power, and outwit your adversaries.

But this leaves the last two parts of the mission of this project: (1) effecting legislative change, and (2) reversing public sentiment about parental alienation and sole custody parenting. To these ends, I decided I needed to find a better, more efficient way to harvest political capital and apply pressure because what we were doing was just not working. The truth is the landscape of the family law reform ecosystem is littered with the bodies of the burn-outs; and that is in no small part because the system has been engineered to do exactly that to non-custodial parents and their advocates.

In any case, the website we all have now my solution to tackling all these problems, and at the core of what we’re doing, every victory we pursue—whether in courtrooms, culture, or connections—boils down to one irreplaceable truth: Scale creates inevitability.

How It Works:

  • Family Law Reform needs unignorable numbers to pressure lawmakers (vs. isolated complaints they can ignore).

  • Fighting False Narratives requires crowdsourced truth-telling—thousands sharing facts drown out outdated lies.

  • Reuniting Families thrives on local support webs (therapists, legal allies, peers who’ve won similar battles).

  • Your Private Network’s Value multiplies when more skilled, aligned members join (doctors + lawyers + alienated adult children = unstoppable resource hub).

Our Secret Weapon:

We’re not building one network, but a constellation of independent groups—local advocates, professional alliances, grassroots circles—all reinforcing each other. Like neurons firing together, this structure makes the whole smarter, faster, and harder to stop.

Every goal we have—from courtroom reform to family reunification—relies on one unstoppable force: the exponential power of our Six Degrees growth model. Here’s how it transforms isolated efforts into systemic change:

The Six Degrees Flywheel:

  1. You Join (Degree 1) – Your upgrade adds your skills, story, and network to the system.

  2. Your Connections Activate (Degrees 2-3) – When you invite allies (or even just exist in the network), they become reachable by others—without you lifting a finger.

  3. Local Networks Emerge (Degrees 4-6) – As more members cluster in your area, the system auto-flags your zip code for targeted tools/events.

  4. Critical Mass = Autopilot Change – At 12+ members per zone, the network begins:

    • Politicians notice (voter blocs form)

    • Media narratives shift (crowdsourced truth outweighs stigma)

    • Reunions accelerate (more local mentors = faster healing)

Why This is Revolutionary:

  • Passive Power: Your mere presence in the network automatically creates paths for others (like Sarah in Denver connecting to a lawyer in her area through your inactive cousin’s membership).

  • Compound Growth: 1 invite → 5 hidden connections → 25 potential allies. That’s the math that topples systems.

  • No Superheroes Needed: The model thrives on ordinary participation—not martyrdom.

Harvesting The Six Degrees Model For Political Power:

The six degrees of separation phenomenon isn’t just a quirky social idea—it’s a powerful architecture for real-world influence. When applied strategically, it can be harvested to create political power from the ground up, especially in movements like ours that are community-driven, justice-focused, and emotionally resonant.

At any given moment, you are six or fewer connections away from anyone in the world—including lawmakers, journalists, judges, influencers, and policy-makers. That means you don’t need to know powerful people. You just need to know people:

  • Scale Without Gatekeepers: You don’t need direct access to political leaders—you need access to the people who influence them. If every member of your network brings in a few others, and they do the same, you’re rapidly expanding a web of influence. It becomes a distributed system of persuasion and pressure, not a top-down lobbying effort.
  • Localized Connection = National Leverage: By activating local support networks (friends, families, communities), you build a microcosm of trust that can ripple outward. These trusted nodes often hold surprising reach: someone has a friend who works in a courthouse. Another knows a journalist. A third has lunch with a senator’s aide. The more intentional you are with mapping and activating these links, the more powerful your reach becomes.
  • Narrative Correction Through Network Effects: False narratives (like “alienated parents are selfish” or “courts are always fair”) thrive because of information gaps. Your growing network becomes a distributed truth-telling engine—amplifying personal stories, correcting misconceptions, and flooding the narrative space with lived experience. One person telling a story feels isolated. A network of 1,000 telling similar stories becomes impossible to ignore.
  • Coordinated, Hyper-Local Action with National Impact: With a six-degrees model, your campaign can coordinate simultaneous local actions that point to shared national goals—a tactic that makes movements like Black Lives Matter or MADD so effective. It’s not about one big protest—it’s about hundreds of coordinated conversations, hearings, media moments, or showings of public pressure, all connected across short relational chains.
  • Leverage and Legitimacy Through Numbers: As your member network grows, so does your political leverage. When you can demonstrate thousands of engaged citizens across jurisdictions, you’re no longer asking. You’re demanding with legitimacy—and lawmakers take notice. Every new member isn’t just a supporter—they’re a bridge to the next circle of influence.

Benefits Beyond Political Power:

The six degrees growth engine, when actively cultivated, does far more than build political power—it creates a living system of opportunity, support, and self-determination. By fostering a web of interconnected local networks, your movement unlocks collective uplift, not just collective action.

No matter what your personal goal is—building a business, finding a mentor, reuniting with family, publishing a book, passing legislation, or just not feeling alone—you are more likely to succeed if your goals are known, shared, and supported by others.

When people show up for each other—without agenda, but with shared purpose—mutual aid becomes second nature. Need a job lead? Emotional support? Help with your kid’s school? Housing advice? A connection to a local official? Someone in your extended six degrees has it—or knows someone who does.

The Love & Iron Project isn’t just fighting for policy change—we’re building something deeper: a resilient, growing alliance of like-minded people who stand together, not just in outrage, but in action, support, and healing.

We know that non-custodial parents, their families, and those estranged by corrupt or broken systems are often misrepresented, misunderstood, and mistreated—by courts, government, and even their communities. The grief is personal. The injustice is systemic. And too often, we’re left to navigate it alone.

But no more.

We are creating a space where we take care of our own—mothers, fathers, grandparents, step-parents, adult children, aunts, uncles, friends, colleagues—anyone impacted by alienation or abuse of power in the family court system, AND also literally anyone who agrees with us that change needs to happen. All who stand with us are welcome.

This Is Bigger Than Reform — It’s About Your Life, Your Goals, Your Future

Plug In. Power Up. Move Forward.

Everything built into The Love & Iron Project website exists because I use it myself. These aren’t abstract ideas or tools made for “someday” — they’re what I continue to rely on in my own life, and everything that’s coming next is something I plan to use, too. This site is more than a message board or a blog — it’s a productivity tool, designed to help you get more done with less effort. It’s about saving your time and your energy, while still moving your goals forward.

While our mission is rooted in family law reform, ending parental alienation abuse, and correcting the public narrative around non-custodial parenting, I want to be honest: I don’t enjoy spending my life entangled in family court matters. And I’m sure you don’t either. That’s why this platform isn’t just about court — it’s about everything that comes after. The tools we’re building here are meant to support your entire life, whether you’re dealing with legal issues or simply trying to heal, grow, and move forward in other areas.

The most important thing to understand is that our Six Degrees growth engine works largely in the background. It’s a system built to expand passively. We’ve designed it so you don’t need to be constantly active for it to work — you just need to be present within it. Upgrading to Legacy Keyholder status is what plugs you into the network. From that point on, as our membership grows, local connections start forming on their own, and you begin to see how this alliance takes shape — one person, one town, one link at a time.

Think of our private network not as a single community, but as a collection of interconnected networks. We’re all aligned around the mission, but each of us brings different passions, talents, and interests into the space. Some members are focused on reform and activism. Others are here for healing, professional networking, or to build something new in their lives. These micro-networks feed into the larger mission — and support you as a whole person, not just someone navigating the court system.

The Love and Iron Project isn’t just another advocacy group—it’s a living, breathing alliance of people with skin in the game and heart in the mission. We are targeted parents fighting to bring our children home. Estranged adult children reclaiming stolen bonds. Grandparents and extended family who refuse to be erased. Independent activists and reform organizations pushing strategies that work. And we’re proud to stand with allies of every background—folks who may not have lived our family court battles, but who believe, like we do, that justice shouldn’t depend on your last name or court order.

What we’re building here isn’t just a platform. It’s an alliance — a quiet but powerful force where we take care of our own, help each other grow, and build the kind of life we all deserve. The system is already here. All that’s left is for you to step in.

Here’s the truth: Family court is just one battlefield. The tools you’ll find here—for communication, organization, and strategy—work just as powerfully for your career, personal growth, or local activism. Because your life shouldn’t be consumed by this fight.

Our Six Degrees growth engine runs on a simple rule: Your presence matters more than your labor. Once you join as a Legacy Keyholder:

  • We connect you to your people—local parents, lawyers, advocates

  • New members gravitate to your expertise (even if you rarely log in)

  • The network expands organically—no endless meetings required

This is how we win: Not as isolated victims, but as a web of interlocking strengths. A grandparent’s wisdom fuels a targeted parent’s case. An ally’s social reach spreads our message. An estranged adult’s story shifts public opinion. Every node in this network—every one of us—makes the whole stronger.

The System Is Built. Now It’s Time to Grow — Full Steam Ahead.

After months of building, testing, and connecting… The New and Improved Love & Iron Project is ready. The architecture is in place. The foundation is strong. The system works.

Now, it’s all about growing the movement — and that means you. You don’t need to build anything. You don’t need to figure it out alone. We’ve already done the hard part — all you have to do is step in.

Right now, we’re creating a network of local networks — groups of parents, allies, and advocates coming together in towns, cities, and communities just like yours. You’re not meant to do this alone, And with our system, you won’t have to.

All you need to do is upgrade your membership — just once. Pick any amount that feels right to you, and you’re in!

From that point on:

❤️ The system carries you forward…
           📍 You’re looped into your local region…
đź’¬ You’ll start meeting others who are right where you are — emotionally and geographically…
🚀 And before you know it… things start moving!

Next Steps:

If you’ve been through family court, you’ve likely been drained — emotionally, mentally, and financially. Many of us have spent thousands trying to protect our children, defend our rights, and hold it all together.

We see you.

That’s exactly why The Love & Iron Project is built to minimize your costs — not add to them. Our primary goal is to make powerful tools, real support, and meaningful community affordable and accessible for every family who’s been through the fire.

To fully access everything we’ve built — including our premium site tools, local networking features, and private member-only social platform — you will need to upgrade your membership.

But here’s the part I’m proud of:

  • It’s a miniscule, one-time fee — no subscriptions, no surprises.
  • Once and done — you’re in for good.

Yes, that’s right…To access our premium member tools, private social network, and local organizing spaces, we ask for a one-time upgrade.

Your contribution helps us:

  • Keep out spammers, trolls, and stalkers
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and private environment
  • Promote the alliance and our goals for family law reform and ending parental alienation abuse
  • Keep the lights on add additional services

This upgrade helps sustain the system that connects us all — while keeping things affordable, accessible, and fair for everyone. This isn’t about making money — it’s about building something sustainable, safe, and strong for people who’ve already been through enough.
